Twitter is a valuable tool in the education industry that helps create and mold local and global professional networks. It is a great place to get advice, give advice, learn from specialists, find resources for your classroom, get lesson plan ideas, learn about new technology and integrate it and get educational news. Professional Learning Networks (PLN) are made up of experts around the world who come together and share ideas and resources, and are available online at any hour. Twitter allows access to interactive communication at all times, allowing users to take full advantage of the PLN they have taken the time to build, and it also facilitates expansion of the users PLN.

With Twitter’s retweet function, users can be virtually introduced to members of other PLN’s and therefore expand their own PLN. Using educational specific hashtags, users can find new colleagues to follow and expand their PLN. There are so many creative ways to use hashtags.
